If the following situations apply, consider using additional lubricant:
• The cable jacket is hard and/or cable is very stiff.
• The conduit is rough or dirty.
• There are many bends to pull through.
• The percentage of conduit filled by the cable is unusually high.
• The conduit is water filled.
The following equation is a general guideline to determine the amount of cable lubricant
to use for an average cable pull.
Q = 0.0015 X L x D
Where:
Q = Quantity of cable lubricant to use in gallons
L = Length of cable pull in feet
D = Diameter of conduit or duct in inches
